Sub-area of acoustics or noise impact research, which deals with the subjective perception of objectively available sound signals. It also considers the influence of personal attitudes and listener expectations on the perception of sound events. Thus, psychoacoustics studies the relationship between physical sound stimuli and psychological sensations, for example, the physical intensity of sounds (loudness) and the perceived volume of sound. The perception of sound intensity is related to the sound pressure level of the sound stimulus. The perception of sound is not only dependent on the physical characteristics of a sound, but also on the cognitive and affective processes that occur.
